تظاهرات مختلف سالک جلدی سگ در منطقه ای اندمیک در ایران (مشهد)

Abstract

Among thirty dogs presented to Ferdowsi University of Mashhad Teaching Hospital (from October 2007 to May 2008) with cutaneous leishmaniasis, three atypical cutaneous presentations of leishmaniasis were detected: one of nodular cutaneous leishmaniasis, one of granulomatous conjunctival plus popular cutaneous leishmaniasis lesions and a third of pustular lesions. Serological evaluation and protein electrophoresis analysis were normal in all thirty dogs. All were finally diagnosed by microscopic identification of leishmania amastigotes in skin biopsies. Treatment with allopurinol and levamisol induced remission. Prognosis is favourable as there is no systemic involvement and the response to treatment is excellent. It is important to identify these new forms of leishmaniasis and investigate the immunological response of the host.
