description abstractThis study seeks to explore the influence of world Englishes philosophy on English language learning in Iran. According to the proponents of World Englishes, English does not belong to England or America. This notion, with its postmodern philosophy, highlights the role of diversity in language acquisition, meaning that language learners are not expected to follow the English or American standards fully; for example, they are not obliged to acquire a native-like accent like Americans. Although it seems that the idea of World Englishes is accepted by so many countries, in some countries like Iran (in which English is a Foreign Language) the idea has not been embraced by teachers and language learners.en
