description abstractA rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The Conventional Dielectric Waveguide Model (CDWM) and the Finite Element Method (FEM) are employed to calculate the radiation characteristics of the antenna. The results are presented and compared with those obtained experimentally. It is concluded that the CDWM can be used for a first order estimation of antenna parameters, but more accurate results can be obtained using the FEM for radiation patterns.en
