Abstract: Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the important causes of mortality in all populations. Some herbal drugs have been utilized for the treatment of MI. This research was designed to study the cardioprotective effects of Semelil (ANGIPARS™), a novel herbal drug, in male rabbits. Twenty-five New Zealand white rabbits were randomly allocated into five groups: control vehicle; sham; sham vehicle; ischemia vehicle; Semelil 10 mg/kg. Ischemia was created by complete occlusion of Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery (LADC). Semelil drug was intraperitoneally injected for two weeks in the treatment group. Functional, Biochemical, and histological investigations were used for discovering protective effects of Semelil. Based on our information, Semelil ameliorated the ECHO pattern. In addition, treatment with Semelil amended levels of serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase and Cardiac troponin T comparing to the ischemia group. Morphological data revealed that Semelil could keep cardiomyocyte against myocardial infarction abuses. The results indicate that Semelil has cardio-protective effects that may be mediated by anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects.
