A 2D Model to Simulate Polymeric Membrane Formation by Phase Inversion

چکیده: Membrane formation by phase inversion is the most common method for preparation of polymeric

membranes. Kinetics of membrane formation is usually studied by one dimensional models which

are almost complicated and the input parameters are difficult to obtain in the open literature. In this

paper a simple 2D model is developed to describe the mass transfer during membrane formation

using the well known Fick equation. The model is able to predict qualitatively the morphology of

membranes obtained from PVC/THF/water and PVC/DMF/water membrane forming system.
