چکیده: Xanthene derivatives are very important heterocyclic compounds and have been widely used as

dyes fluorescent materials for visualization of biomolecules and laser technologies due to their

useful spectroscopic properties. [1] This compounds have also been investigated for agricultural

bactericidal activity, [2] photodynamic therapy, [3] anti-inflammatory effects, [4] antiviral activity,

[5] and for antagonism of the paralyzing action of zoxazolamine.[6] Because of the remarkable

properties, their synthesis has been considered by researchers.

Due to the widespread use of xanthene derivatives, various methods for their synthesis have been

reported. In this article we have reported synthesis of new and the most commonly used of xanthene

derivatives. For this purpose, the xanthydrol was reacted with different derivatives of 2-naphthol in

acidic conditions.
